Akshay Kumar is one of Bollywood’s busiest stars, renowned for completing projects quickly. In 2022, he has already begun work on Rama Setu, Oh My God 2, Selfie, and the remake of Soorarai Pottru. It is being speculated that he will finish both Selfie and Soorarai Pottru by the end of June and then move on to his new projects.
In the second half of 2022, he will be juggling Gorkha, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, as well as some patchwork sequences from ongoing films. His digital debut, The End, is also in the works, and is now in the pre-production stage. Every one of these projects will be filmed after July 2022, a source familiar with the situation stated. Apart from the already mentioned projects, Akshay is in negotiations with a number of producers and filmmakers for his new projects. He is in talks with Kumar Mangat for a UK-set action thriller directed by Vignesh Shetty. The actor is also contemplating a comedy movie under the Bhagnani banner, which will be directed by Mudassar Aziz. Bhushan Kumar and Ekta Kapoor have both offered Akshay Kumar a project as well.
The source adds that Karan Johar, too, is in the line. His film is set against the backdrop of the Jallianwala Baug massacre, and the actor in it will be cast as Justice Sankaran. During the next few weeks, Akshay has too much on his plate to think about.
Apart from the projects now in production, Akshay Kumar has a busy release cycle this year. He will next appear in Prithviraj, which will be released on June 3rd, followed by Raksha Bandhan, which will hit the screens on August 11th, and Ram Setu on Diwali. Cinderella is also getting an OTT release, though no date has been set for it yet.
