Maddock Films yesterday took to their social media to announce their collaboration with John Abraham for the film titled Tehran, which will be helmed by Arun Gopalan. The film, which will be released on Republic Day next year, is based on true events. With this announcement, Tehran has set up a clash with the much-hyped Fighter, releasing on the same day and starring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone. As per a well placed source, Fighter’s release date was always put forth officially as January 26. The filmmaker’s these days eye for a holiday clubbed release to ensure a guaranteed box office fiesta. But now, since another big film is releasing on the same day, it remains to be seen how much the two will affect each other’s business. The source says that it is not only about these two movies releasing on January 26, but even the Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer helmed by Luv Ranjan will also be releasing on the same date, making it a big Bollywood clash. Fighter is directed by Siddharth Anand and was earlier scheduled for a September release this year. Tehran, on the other hand, is a Maddock Films and Bake My Cake Films production, written by Ritesh Shah and Ashish Prakash Verma.
