Hindi Remake of Soorarai Pottru

It comes as a relief to Suriya as Madras High Court has vacated the injunction order against the Hindi remake of Soorarai Pottru and given it in favor of the actors’ production house, 2D Entertainment. This year in July, Suriya’s production house had collaborated with Abundantia Entertainment for the Hindi remake of Soorarai Pottru. But the makers faced quite a hurdle when Sikhya Entertainment, headed by Guneet Monga, who was the co-producer of the original Soorarai Pottru, filed an injunction against the Hindi remake. The case was heard by the Madras High Court on September 8, where Suriya’s counsel argued that they had paid a huge sum to Sikhya Entertainment while facilitating the acquisition rights of the book Simply Fly, on which Soorarai Pottru is based. Hearing this and with substantial proof, the court ruled in favor of Suriya’s 2D Entertainment and thereby vacated the injunction. Now that the court has ruled the order in the production house’s favor, work will resume soon on it. Sudha Kongara, who helmed the original, will direct the Hindi remake as well. The cast of the remake hasn’t been finalized yet. The film will be based on the life of Air Deccan founder Captain GR Gopinath who revolutionized the Indian aviation space in the early 2000s. The original film was released on Amazon Prime last year and received great appreciation from the audiences and critics.
