Veteran journalist Vinod Dua breathed his last yesterday evening after fighting a prolonged illness due to a COVID infection. He was 67. He was moved to the intensive care unit of Delhi’s Apollo Hospital on the advice of doctors.

Mallika Dua, his daughter, and an actor confirmed the news of his passing away on her Instagram story. The cremation will be held at Lodhi crematorium in the capital on Sunday. Dua’s legacy transcends right from the 80s to the 2000s and also in the digital news media. He is also known to have revolutionized election coverage in the country. In the words of NDTV’s Prannoy Roy, Vinod isn’t just one of the greatest but the greatest of his era. He was a pioneer in Hindi journalism and was awarded the Padma Shri in 2008.

He hosted programs like Janwani, Parakh, Khabardar India, Vinod Dua Live, and Zaika India Ka. He was regarded to be a fearless journalist who was known to ask the most uncomfortable questions most reasonably. Vinod Dua was hospitalized along with his wife, Padmavati Dua, a radiologist, following a COVID infection during the second wave. Mrs. Dua passed away in June, and Vinod was struggling with his health ever since. He is survived by two daughters, Mallika Dua, an actor, and Bakul Dua, who is a clinical psychologist.
