Sushant Singh Rajput

June 14 marks the first death anniversary of an actor who excelled in every character he played- Sushant Singh Rajput. He was loved by all for not only the on-screen performance he gave every time but because he was different. How often would you find an actor inclined to quantum physics or someone who bought a chunk of land on the moon? His bucket list would put even the most adventurous in awe.

A Man For All Seasons

In a short career span, his performances will be remembered for life. Who can forget the role he essayed of M.S Dhoni in his biopic. It will forever be one of the most exhaustive learning and portrayal of the character you will come across from an actor who built his career brick-by-brick. From a background stage dancer to a soap opera star to an accomplished Bollywood artist, Sushant Singh Rajput was meant to do big things.

His Impression

The people who have worked with Sushant have very fond memories of him. Tahir Raj Bhasin, his Chhichhore co-star recalls that Sushant was a 90s buff. He would always put on the music from that era to get into the groove of the characters they were all playing in the movie. He would break into a Shah Rukh Khan or a Hrithik Roshan mode on the sets, just to lighten up everyone. According to Tahir, Sushant was bigger than any movie or role he did, and there was so much more in him than just being an actor, and that’s what defines his greatness. In a recent interview with a leading English daily, Remo D’souza revealed the last conversation he had with the late actor. Remo recalls that Sushant had shown his inclination to do a dance film when he had visited the sets of Dance+ for one of his movies’ promotions. The ace choreographer wishes he could have made a movie with him, for Sushant was an amazing dancer. As per Remo, either you are a born dancer or a trained dancer. Sushant, according to him, was a blend of both. Remo says he still gets goosebumps when he thinks of the last conversation he had with SSR where the late actor had come to him and said, “ Sir, you know I am a good dancer, let us do a film together.” Sushant Singh Rajput created a legacy in a short-lived career.

The Legacy Will Live On

Be it the selflessness of Ishaan from Kai Po Che!, that M.S Dhoni stance, the humility of Mansoor from Kedarnath, the go-getter attitude of  in Chhichhore, or the ease with which he portrayed Manny in Dil Bechara, the stamp of Anniprowess which Sushant has left on each one of us, will never be erased.
