Sita Maa’s role in Ramayan, seen through the eyes of Sita herself, has not been finalized yet. With this, all speculations surrounding who is playing the role of Sita can be laid to rest as of now. Veteran writer K Vijayendra Prasad, who is writing Ramayan, has confirmed saying that there will be a name announcement shortly. As per sources, the filmmakers are thinking of casting a new face for the role of Sita Maa as old faces might not be acceptable to the audience. A source close to the project says that when Deepika Chikhlia played the role of Sita in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana, the audience wasn’t familiar with her face, but they accepted her willingly. If today Deepika Padukone plays Maa Sita’s role, the audience will see Deepika and not Sita. It was also reported sometimes back of Kareena Kapoor being offered the part of Sita, but the actress had demanded a sum of Rs. 12 crores for it, which the producers were unwilling to shell out. On asking about this, K Vijayendra Prasad denied the report emphatically.
