The Kashmir Files, helmed by Vivek Agnihotri, has been a box office hit, surprising not only commerce but the film industry as well. The film, which premiered in theatres on March 11, has surpassed the $200 million mark, making it the highest-grossing film in the post-pandemic era. The film is also set to make ripples on the OTT landscape now, and can be seen on Zee5. OTT giant ZEE5 owns the film’s digital rights. The film, which is currently playing in theatres, may be available on the OTT platform somewhere around the third week of April. However, a few reports suggest that the film will not be available for 8 weeks on the OTT platform from the date of its release. The plan is to keep pushing the film in theatres as much as possible now that it is performing so well. The Kashmir Files drew not only regular moviegoers, but also people who hadn’t visited a movie theatre in years due to the pandemic. The film is now in its third week, and there is still a strong market for it, with requests coming in from even the remotest of areas. Despite the release of the much-anticipated film RRR, it has managed to stay afloat. As a result, neither Zee Studios nor the other stakeholders have announced a time for the digital release. However, it won’t be available on Zee5 for yet another 8 weeks. There’s no need to make concessions when it comes to the blockbuster theatrical run.
