The set of Prakash Jha’s Ashram 3 was vandalized in Bhopal a couple of days ago by the Bajrang Dal activists. And it did not stop there. Jha, who is the producer and director of the web series, was attacked too as the ink was thrown on his face. The incident has shaken up everyone and has brought to the fore the vulnerability of the artists and other crew members present on the sets.

After this unfortunate occurrence, the Producers Guild of India has issued a statement and demanded action against these recent acts of violence. The statement was put on social media, and even actor Varun Dhawan shared it on his Instagram handle.

According to the statement, the guild strongly condemns the brazen act of violence, vandalism, and harassment faced by the cast and crew members of Ashram 3 in Bhopal. It further said, that unfortunately, this is not a one-off incident and that they are alarmed to witness the frequency with which such acts are taking place.

The statement says that the production of content adds significantly to the local economies, generates employment, and even promotes tourism. However, the minimum that the production units of the films and web series’ expect is a guarantee of their safety and security from the authorities.

Filmmaker Hansal Mehta too raised his voice against the incident and took to his social media in support of Jha. However, he also said that unless action is taken against this incident, statements like these are pointless.
