The makers of 83 have confirmed that the film has crossed the 100-crore mark, a feat achieved after 17 days of its release. 83 is showcased in five languages: Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada. One of the producers of the film, Reliance Entertainment, shared the news on its official social media handle with the caption, “Country scores a century.”
83 has been regarded as an underperformer since it did not get the momentum in the holiday season that it should have ideally got. Expectations were high after the humungous success of Sooryavanshi, which was released a day after Diwali. Kabir Khan, the director of the film, has gone on to call the movie a victim of the pandemic and has defended the film’s collections.
According to him, the movie did put on a show despite the COVID-19 restrictions, leading to a theatre occupancy cap and even the closure of cinema halls in some locations.
