Javed Akhtar appointed Vice President

In a first of its kind, Indian Writer, Lyricist and a Poet Javed Akhtar has been elected to the post of Vice President of International Confederation Of Societies of Authors and Composers.

International Confederation Of Societies of Authors and Composers or CISAC as it is known is a global organisation, an umbrella of leading worldwide authors’ societies across hundreds of countries with the sole aim to protect the interest of millions of writers and the right holders.

This is the first time that an Indian has been honored with such a prestigious posting.

Javed Akhtar has been synonymous with writing hard hitting films of the 70s and 80s with his partner Salim, that saw the emergence of the superstar of the millennium Amitabh Bachchan. Having penned Zanjeer, Deewar, Sholay, etc., Javed Akhtar then went on to write solo for films such as Mr. India, Lakshya, etc.

Having won 5 national awards for his writings, he also holds the record for winning the National Award thrice in a row. These are just a few of the hundreds of other awards that he has won in his illustrious career. He is also a keen social activists and has gained recognition for the social work undertaken by him.

And now the Vice President of CISAC!
