Hollywood Legend fondly remembered for his role of Captain von Trapp in 1965 classic The Sound of Music has passed away at the age of 91. Plummer passed away at his home in Connecticut with his wife, Elaine Taylor by his side. At the age of 82, he became the oldest actor to win an Oscar for the movie, Beginners in which he portrayed the role of a man who came out of the closet after his wife’s demise. His leading lady of The Sound of Music, Julie Andrews in a statement described him as a consummate actor and a cherished friend.
