Sudhir Mishra mourns the loss of filmmaker Basu Chatterjee said , “Everyday brings with it some bad news!”
The news has been confirmed by Indian Film & TV Directors’ Association president Ashoke Pandit, he shared the news to the world through Social media. He also shared a monochrome photo of the ace filmmaker and tweeted, ”I am extremely grieved to inform you all the demise of Legendary Filmmaker Basu Chatterjee ji .
Chameli Ki Shaadi (1986) was his last commercially successful movie. He has also directed many Bengali films such as ‘Hothat Brishti’, ‘Hochcheta Ki’ and ‘Hothat Shei Din’.
While paying his tribute to Basu Chatterjee Atanu Ghosh said, “He will always be known as a trendsetter in Indian cinema”
Shabana Azmi grieved the sad demise of the filmmaker. She tweeted, ”Deeply saddened to hear about Basu Chatterjee’s passing away.A prolific filmaker, he was the pioneer of what came to be regarded as middle of the road cinema. I was fortunate to have done 3 lovely films with him Swami Apne Paraye and Jeena Yahan. All lifelike characters .RIP”
Shoojit Sircar wrote, ”My 1st job as an assistant director was with Basu Chatterjee for a Bengali tv serial shot in CR park, New Delhi.. May his soul Rest In Peace.”
