In a major surprise, Karan Johar took to twitter this morning to announce his next magnum opus, ‘Takht’ with the release of the film’s poster.
A historical film, Karan said of his next directorial venture, “An incredible story embedded in history… An epic battle for the majestic Mughal throne… A story of a family, of ambition, of greed, of betrayal, of love & of succession… TAKHT is about WAR for LOVE….”
The film is slated to release in 2020 and will have an ensemble star cast that boasts of Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar and Vicky Kaushal.
Produced by Dharma Productions, the film’s screenplay has been written by Sumit Roy with dialogues penned by Hussain Haidry and Sumit Roy.
With Ranveer Singh having played historical characters with aplomb be it as Bajirao or as Alauddin Khilji in Padmavat, this no doubt will be the next challenging role for him.
We are definitely excited for the film with such an ensemble star cast.
