Thank God, starring Siddharth Malhotra, Ajay Devgn, and Rakul Preet Singh, has been in the planning stage for more than two years. After the first COVID outbreak, the filmmaker finished off the script, which is an adaptation of a Danish film. The producers even had a mahurat shot filmed in Mumbai in January this year, and the plan was to kick-start the movie from mid-April after Siddharth Malhotra wraps up the Lucknow schedule of Mission Majnu. However, all that plan is out of the window now due to the second wave of COVID-19 in the country. Sadly, the makers have incurred a loss to the tune of Rs. 2 Crores which could have been even more if the right decision wouldn’t have been taken. As per a source, a huge set was made for the film in Filmcity, and some part of it was already being readied for the first schedule until restrictions from the Maharashtra Government were imposed. The makers predicted that the lockdown imposed will last longer and had clear choices to make; either pay per day rent of the set or dismantle it completely and lose around Rs. 2 crores. They chose the latter because had they opted for a per-day rent, the commercial damage would have been a lot higher. Co-produced by T-Series & Maruti International, Thank God is directed by Indra Kumar.
