Controversies aren’t new to Vir Das, who has had a pretty high share of them in the last few years. The actor-comedian has landed in trouble yet again for his derogatory remark against India in a standup comedy event at the Kennedy Center in the U.S. The video has gone viral on the internet where he is seen saying that he comes from two India’s, where in one, men worship women in the day and the other where they gang rape women at night.

The video has received a significant share of angry reactions from people who have slammed Das for his derogatory remarks for the country, deteriorating its image on a global platform. A complaint has been registered against him at Delhi’s Tilak Marg Police Station. As it would happen in all cases like these, a clarification has come from Vir Das on his Twitter handle where he has written that like any nation has a light and dark shade, good and evil within it, the video is nothing more than just a satire.

He adds that the video appeals to everyone not to forget that we are great and also gets a huge round of applause from the audience at the end. All said and done, one cannot fathom the urge to slam one’s own country for a few comic moments and claps on a huge platform in front of a global audience. No wonder it has sparked controversy and has attracted reactions from the social and political arena.
