Viacom 18 has joined the team of Fighter as one of the studio partners in association with Siddharth Anand’s banner Marflix. Viacom has made the official announcement of the same on their Twitter handle today. The movie will be directed by Siddharth Anand and will have Hrithik Roshan & Deepika Padukone as main leads. Viacom18 took to their social media handle to share a video while making the announcement. The tweet read that after a decade of entertaining the audience with hits, Viacom18 is all set to up the ante of everybody’s cinematic experience. The tweet further asked everyone to get ready for India’s first aerial action franchise, Fighter. Speaking on the development, Ajit Andhare, COO, Viacom18, said that an aerial action flick would offer a unique cinematic experience that has never been witnessed in India. Being a Top Gun fan, he has been looking for such a script for years that explores the facets of aerial action and has a story rooted in India. He further said that Siddharth understands this genre and brings a unique flair to his films, and he is excited to collaborate with him in building this franchise. Siddharth Anand, on the other hand, added that Fighter is a dream project, and he is glad to have someone with Ajit’s vision to be partnering with him. The movie will be for a global audience and will be shot at various locations across the world. The essence of the story will be Indian that salutes the valor and sacrifices of our armed forces. Fighter will have Hrithik play the role of an Air Force Officer for the first time in his career, and apart from Hindi, it will be released in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam languages. It will go on floors sometime in 2022 after Hrithik is done filming for Vikram Vedha and The Night Manager, and Deepika completes Pathan and The Intern.
