After Kartik Aaryan’s ouster from Dostana 2, Karan Johar has put a plan in place for the casting of the film. While multiple names have come up for Kartik’s role, meetings are regularly being held between Karan and his creative team. Names that are already given a thought include Akshay Kumar, Varun Dhawan, Rajkummar Rao, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Siddharth Malhotra. But if reports are to be believed, Johar is pushing for Akshay’s name as he will give Dostana franchise a different level altogether. And that’s not it. Karan Johar does not want to get stuck into the outsider-insider imbroglio, and Akshay’s casting for the movie will put that debate to rest. Although Akshay is Karan’s first choice, if that does not work out, he will still have the other 4 to choose from, out of which 3 are outsiders and are a safe bet. As per the source, the core idea is to get an outsider for an outsider. No official confirmation has come out of the production house, and the cast will be zeroed upon once the lockdown restrictions are lifted. The new actor who will come on board will play the role of Janhavi Kapoor’s brother, and the plot will revolve around how both brother-sister fall for the same guy.
