Bhoot Police which was supposed to release in theatres on September 10 this year, will now take the OTT route. Directed by Pavan Kripalani and starring Saif Ali Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Yami Gautam, the movie will reportedly have its premiere on Disney+Hotstar, and the two parties are currently in talks before the final modalities are decided on paper. Interestingly, the shoot of the movie commenced in November last year and was wrapped up by January, right before the second wave of the pandemic engulfed the country. Due to the raging Coronavirus situation, most of the movies have gone the digital way and completely skipped the theatrical release pattern. Although the situation improved in the first half of 2021 with even theatres opening in many parts of the country, with cases rising again, it went completely grim from April, compelling theatres to shut and movies to postpone. Owing to the uncertain nature of the pandemic, producer of Bhoot Police Ramesh Taurani has decided to take the digital plunge. Disney+Hotstar, on the other hand, is planning to announce multiple releases on their platform, just like the way they did last year. The streaming giant is on an acquisition spree and in talks with numerous producers.
