It’s been a month since BTS’ second English single Butter was released. This song from the South Korean band remains atop of the Billboard Hot 100 Chart for 4 straight weeks. With this, BTS has become the first Asian act in history to achieve this milestone. This song also overtakes their previous single Dynamite to become the groups leading number one hit. Dynamite had a three-week run on top of the Billboard chart. As per the charts, Butter drew around 12.5 million US streams and sold 111,400 downloads in the week that ended on June 17. It also had a 25.8 million radio airplay audience which was up by 6% in the week ending June 20. Notably, of the 54 songs which have debuted at No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100 chart, only 12 have managed to spend the first four weeks at the pole position. Butter happens to be the first No. 1 song debut by a group that has remained on top for four weeks in this century. This song has also become the first to sell more than 600,000 downloads in the US alone in 2021. It has sold over two times more copies than the group’s next bestseller, Dynamite. This Grammy-nominated song became the most streamed song in a single day in Spotify’s history as it amassed 20.9 million global streams on the first day itself. BTS has already dropped one instrumental and Hotter, Sweeter, and Cooler remixes of Butter, taking the remix count to three. The group is all set for another single on July 9, called ARMY DAY, as it marks the day when their fandom name was announced.
