The last one week has been the most tumultuous time in Shah Rukh Khan’s career as he has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. His son Aryan Khan who is arrested in the high-profile drug case has been denied bail and will be spending his time in the Arthur Road Prison in Mumbai for the next two weeks. Shah Rukh has called off all his scheduled shoots and is with his family. Although he is receiving all the support from the film fraternity, his brand endorsements have started to get hampered because of this drug case blot. His association with the tech giant BYJU’s has taken a beating as they have paused all his advertisements as of now. The move comes after they had to face a lot of backlash from netizens who are of an opinion that getting endorsed by someone who cannot teach his own child to act lawfully can hamper their image badly. There is no official statement given by the spokesperson from BYJUS’s, but someone from their end has confirmed that the promotion revolving around King Khan has been pulled back. There was an ad campaign from BYJU’s designed specifically for Shah Rukh Khan however, it seems they will have to pull that off as well. Notably, BYJU’s is the biggest brand that Shah Rukh Khan has today. He is paid 3-4 crore a year for the endorsement. Rohit Ohri, who is the group chairman of the creative ad agency, FCB feels that BYJU’s has benefited immensely from its association with Khan. His association with the brand is so intrinsic and deep that even if the ed-tech giant is pausing all its ads now, it will be very difficult for them to delink itself from SRK.
