Before the pandemic struck, China was a preferred destination for Bollywood blockbusters. Who can forget the incredible business that Aamir Khan’s 2016 hit Dangal did in China. The film was directed by Nitesh Tiwari and released in the neighboring country a year later. The film, which collected Rs.
390 crores in India, went on to mint a whopping Rs. 1000 crores at the China box office. After Dangal, Nitesh Tiwari’s other movie Chhichhore, which released in 2019, and which was, unfortunately, Sushant Singh Rajput’s last theatrical release also went on to become a huge success. Its box office collection amounted to Rs. 153 crores. Apparently, the film’s success can be attributed to great word of mouth.
It has now come to light that this National Award winner will be showcased in China as well. The poster of the Chinese version of the film is already out, and the date of release is mentioned on it as January 7, 2022. Once the showcase date nears, it will be interesting to see how many screens it shall be released in. The industry and the trade will be indeed glued upon to know how Chhichhore fares in China as it will be the first film to release after the pandemic.
