When Sooryavanshi was supposed to release on March 24, 2020, it was announced that the film shall run 24×7 in Mumbai. But then the pandemic struck and created havoc worldwide. Running shows post-midnight was an initiative taken by Aditya Thackeray, who is Maharashtra’s Tourism & Environment minister. However, since the lockdown was imposed across the country, the plans to open theatres 24×7 went haywire.

But now that the theatres have opened up and Sooryvanshi has released and is getting a phenomenal response, some shows in certain theatres are running post-midnight as well. Maxus Cinema in Borivali, Mumbai, played the last show on the release date at 11.45 pm, and the next show was held immediately after that at 1.15 am and 2.00 am. The show again commenced at 4.30 am followed by 5.15 am and 6.00 am, and all of them were sold to capacity.

One of the staff from Movie Time’s property in Chembur stated that they program the shows as per demand. So when their 11.30 pm Sooryavanshi show was sold out, they could see many people still enquiring for the tickets and wanting to see the movie desperately. That is where they took to the decision to hold the show at 12.30 am as well. With the occupancy in the post-midnight show encouraging, Movie Time is planning for similar schedules for the next couple of days.
