Last year, Karan Johar, Ekta Kapoor, and Kangana Ranaut were conferred with India’s fourth highest civilian honour, Padma Shri. It is now confirmed that the trio will be receiving the award on November 8 at a ceremony that will take place in New Delhi. All three have been bestowed upon the award for their contribution and excellence in the field of performing arts. As per a source close to the development, since it’s a government function, the invites have already been sent out to the winners.
Interestingly, actor Jeetendra will also be present at the ceremony to cherish that moment of pride of his daughter Ekta receiving the award. In 2020, on receiving the news of the honour, Ekta had said that she had always heard of her being too young, too raw and too soon to make things happen, and now that she has been conferred with the fourth highest civilian honour, she feels humbled. Karan Johar too, had taken to his social media to express his gratitude back then.
He had mentioned that he was on a recce for Takht in an Italian forest when someone from the ministry called up to break the news of him being awarded the Padma Shri. The first thing he did after that was call up his mother who broke down upon hearing the news.
