Freddy has been one of the most spoken about films in Bollywood for the last year, more so due to the controversy surrounding its casting of Kartik Aaryan. That said, everything was put to rest when Ekta Kapoor and Jay Shewakrami announced the film yesterday with Shashanka Ghosh helming it. A source close to the project says that Freddie is a romantic thriller, and the team including Kartik, Ekta, and Shashanka, feel that the script and the subject are meant for a digital medium. At a time of a pandemic, according to them, experimental cinema might not get appreciation and acceptance from the audience on the big screen. Therefore the makers are clear from Day 1 that it will be a direct to digital film, Kartik’s second after Dhamaka, which was also conceptualized for the digital space. Freddie will go on floors from August 1 and will be wrapped up in 35 days. With this, Kartik will be juggling between Freddie and Bhool Bhulaiyya 2 in Mumbai.
