Actor Jake Gyllenhaal will star in the adaptation of a graphic novel by Lorenzo De Felici named Oblivion Song, which will be helmed by Robert Kirkman. Since New Republic Pictures has bought the rights to the novel, they have announced their plan of turning it into a motion picture. It will be co-produced by Gyllenhaal’s production house Nine Stories and Skybound Entertainment, owned by Riva Marker and Robert Kirkman. The novel, released in 2018, is about a person called Nathan Cole, who makes daily trips to Oblivion, an apocalyptic hellscape located in Philadelphia, to rescue those still living there. In a statement, Kirkman said that they could not have found a better partner than the New Republic and Nine Stories to produce the film, as both the production houses have a tremendous reputation of top-notch storytelling of the highest standards. He also added that they cannot wait to see Jake bringing the character to life through this adapted film. Oblivion Song will mark the first project between the New Republic and Nine Stories. As far as other films are concerned, Jake Gyllenhaal will next be seen in Michael Bay’s Ambulance, which will be an action thriller and will also be a part of Netflix’s The Guilty.
