Anupam Kher resigns as FTII Chairman

Anupam Kher who headed Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) as its chairman has subsequently resigned from this post due to work commitments in the USA.

In a letter dated 30th October and sent to Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Kher has stated that due to prior work commitments, (New Amsterdam series), he will be stationed in the United States for 9 months in 2018-2019 and as a result won’t be in a position to do justice to his role as Chairman of FTII the post which he held since the last 11 months.


He further mentioned that he had already made this clear with former I & B Minister Mrs. Smriti Irani before he took up the role of the Chairman.

New Amsterdam series for earlier planned as a 13-part series but because of the tremendous response the series garnered, it has now been further extended with Kher playing a pivotal role in it.
