With the upcoming MAMI (Mumbai Academy of Moving Image) Film Festival take strong cognizance of the allegations against some of the members of the film fraternity, the #MeToo movement has gained strong momentum.
Meanwhile, troubles for the ex-partners of the now dissolved Phantom Films continues to grow day by day. Just days after Phantom Films was dissolved, Vikas Bahl issued legal notices to Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane for supporting the allegations against him of molestation stating that he is being made a scapegoat by the duo for the closure of Phantom Films.
Anurag Kashap on the other hand has decided to step down from the board of MAMI Film Festival in the wake of the #MeToo movement and the allegations against his ex-partner Vikas Bahl and writer Varun Grover and the accusations by Vikas Bahl against him and Motwane.
More skeletons seems to be tumbling out in the call for #MeToo movement. With Nana Patekar, Alok Nath, Vikas Bahl, Varun Grover and Utsav Chakraborty (of AIB) in the docks with allegations against them, the next in the line are Rajat Kapoor and AIB (All India Bakchod) founding members – Gursimran Khamba and Tanmay Bhat.
MAMI has taken the step to drop Rajat Kapoor’s film Kadakh and AIB’s debut feature film Chintu Ka Birthday from its lineup of films for the upcoming film festival.
Meanwhile, Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has sent notices to actors Nana Patekar and Alok Nath and director Vikas Bahl on the allegations and have asked them to respond to the same within 10 days and if failing to do so, they would be boycotted by the industry.
