Speculations with regards to the date as well as the platform for the release of India’s epic Cricket World Cup journey have been laid to rest. Kabir Khan directorial ’83 will release on June 4. We had earlier reported to you that the movie will release sometime in June this year and well now the date is confirmed. Ranveer Singh made the announcement on his Instagram page about the date of release as well as the languages it will come out in. The film will have an ensemble cast that will be seen portraying various characters of the 1983 World Cup-winning squad. The character of Kapil Dev’s wife, Romy Dev will be played by Deepika Padukone. Talking about Deepika’s appearance in the film, Kabir Khan confirmed that it wasn’t because she had agreed to do the film that he wrote the role of Romy Dev but the fact that she had that background where her father being a sports icon himself must have influenced her strongly to take it up. Besides, she also liked the script and hence agreed to be a part of it.
