Director Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious project Ramayana trilogy will not happen anytime soon as the dates of its lead actors, Hrithik Roshan and Ranbir Kapoor are blocked for the majority of the next year. In all possibilities, Ramayana will only begin its shoot starting at the end of 2022. Because of this, the filmmaker is planning a quickie between now and when Ramayana begins.
Nitesh has already signed Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor for this project which will be produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. It will mark a reunion between Tiwari and Nadiadwala after the 2019 super hit, National Award winner, Chhichhore. This film will be Varun’s fourth collaboration with Sajid Nadiadwala after Dishoom, Judwaa 2, and Kalank. The film hasn’t got a title yet but looks like it will be an entertaining love story. A source close to the project says that Varun Dhawan was committed to doing a Sajid Nadiadwala film, and they were on the verge of collaborating for Sanki, which would have been directed by Anurag Singh.
However, COVID changed the dynamics completely with the boom of the OTT landscape, and that’s when Nadiadwala and Dhawan decided to call off the project. Sajid recently pitched the actor this Nitesh Tiwari project, to which he gave his nod immediately, and so did Janhvi Kapoor, thereby making everything fall in place. The film is expected to go on floors from the first quarter of 2022 after Varun finishes his film, Ekkis with Sriram Raghavan and Janhvi wraps up Mr. and Mrs. Mahi opposite Rajkummar Rao.
