Another biopic is in the pipleline and this time it is on the life of Dingko Singh, former boxing champion and Asian Games gold medalist.
The film to be directed by Raja Krishna Menon will feature Shahid Kapoor in the titular role. The film is slated to go on floors in April 2019.
Few know that Padma Shri awardee Dingko Singh from Manipur was the first and only Asian gold medalist in the Bantamweight category. He won the medal at the 1998 Asian Games in Bangkok at the young of 19. Later he was diagnosed with cancer and survived it.
Shahid Kapoor is excited to play the role of Dingko Singh, a fighter who is an inspiration to many boxers.
About Dingko Singh, Shahid said, “The thing that I loved about this story is that he is one of those superstars who we don’t know much about.”
