Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, who were almost finalized for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Baiju Bawra, have called it quits. Sanjay had almost pulled it off with a star-studded lineup of Ranbir, Deepika, and Alia coming together for the film, which has been in the news for almost a year now. However, the report coming out of the project isn’t great as far as this dream cast is concerned. As per a source, Ranbir has rejected the film since he was not keen on working with Sanjay post his debut in Saawariya. He was clear since then that he will not be a part of the director’s projects anymore. Apart from that, he was also heard saying that Baiju Bawra was a boring script that had a restricted appeal amongst the audiences of today, and therefore it was pretty easy for him to say no to the project. Notably, it is Ranveer Singh who has taken Ranbir’s place in the film now. Deepika, on the other hand, has also backed off from the project as Bhansali has refused her demand for equal pay as Ranveer’s. A source close to the project, however, refutes this claim. As per him, Ranveer is already riding high on the success of his last released movies, and the actor has a formidable lineup of films coming up. He has upped his market fee considerably. Deepika is the highest-paid actress today, with an average fee hovering around Rs. 15 crores. The source adds that there is no chance of her demanding a fee equal to Ranveer’s. The source reveals that the real reason for her not doing Baiju Bawra is the availability of dates. Bhansali is planning to take the movie on floors from March next year, and that coincides with Fighter with Hrithik Roshan, which will have the actress in an action-packed role. There is also a Prabhas film that will take a considerable amount of time next year. Besides, Deepika is the busiest actress today and is inclined to do new roles rather than repeating the same old ones. As for Baiju Bawra, Ranveer and Alia are confirmed. It will now be interesting to see who will take Deepika’s place.
