In May last year, it was announced that John Abraham had acquired the Hindi remake rights of the Malayalam action thriller Ayyappanum Koshiyum. Soon, it was confirmed that Abhishek Bachchan would star alongside John and bring back memories of the 2008 hit Dostana which was a different genre altogether. But it seems that the fans will have to wait for their on-screen reunion a bit longer as Abhishek Bachchan has opted out of this untitled JA Entertainment film. Jagan Shakti, who is helming the project, had already begun the work on it, and it was planned to take the movie on the floor from November this year. However, Abhishek called up John a few weeks back and cited his reservation on working for the project. After a thorough discussion, both the actors amicably parted ways. Reportedly, Abhishek also told John that he wishes to work with him soon on another project. Now the production team has an uphill task of finding a replacement for Abhishek. Despite the actors quitting the film, the filmmakers are going ahead with the original plan of taking it on the floors from November. Ayyappanum Koshiyum was released in Malayalam just before the pandemic hit the country last year. The film is about a conflict between the character, Koshi Kurien and Ayyappan Nair, a sub-inspector in Attappadi.
