In 2019, Red Chillies Productions owned by Shah Rukh Khan, announced Bob Biswas, a movie that would have Abhishek Bachchan in the lead. The makers began the shoot of the film during the pandemic in Kolkata and also wrapped it up in 2020 itself. Although the cinema halls in the country have opened their doors, there are production houses that are still opting for an OTT release of their projects, and Bob Biswas is one of them.
As per a report, the film will directly be premiered on India’s homegrown OTT network, ZEE5. The makers are currently in the process of finalising the deal. Bob Biswas is a crime thriller in which Abhishek Bachchan has undergone a complete transformation, while Chitrangada Singh’s character is kept under wraps. The film is a spin-off of Biswas’ character which was essayed by Saswata Chatterjee in Sujoy Ghosh’s 2012 hit, Kahaani, that had Vidya Balan in the lead. Bob Biswas will be bankrolled by Sujoy Ghosh, Gauri Khan, and Gaurav Verma and will mark the directorial debut of Divya Ghosh. The film is written by Ghosh himself.
