Matt Damon and Robert Downey Jr. have joined the cast of Christopher Nolan’s film, which will be a biopic on J. Robert Oppenheimer, who is regarded as one of the fathers of the atomic bomb. Besides Damon and Robert, Cillian Murphy and Emily Blunt are already a part of this Universal project.

Universal is calling this film an epic thriller that will thrust the audience into a paradox of an extraordinary man who had to risk destroying the world to save it. Murphy will play the role of a theoretical physicist who helped in building the atomic bond during World War II. On the other hand, Blunt will play Oppenheimer’s wife Katherine Oppenheimer, while Matt Damon will be seen in the role of Lt.

Gen. Leslie Groves, who was the director of the Manhattan Project, which was a U.S research initiative that developed the first atomic bomb. Downey will play Lewis Strauss, the top boss of the Atomic Energy Commission, who started hearings that questioned J. Robert Oppenheimer’s loyalty to the United States of America and even had the scientist’s security clearance revoked. Nolan is directing the film and has also written the script while his wife and creative partner Emma Thomas will be producing it along with Atlas Entertainment. The film will be an adaption of the Pulitzer Prize-winning book The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer, written by Kal Bird and Late Martin J. Sherwin.
