ZEE5, India’s homegrown OTT platform, is known to launch numerous original series such as Rangbaaz, Abhay, Sunflower and more. They are now coming up with yet another original series called Sutliyan, a family drama that will have the likes of Ayesha Raza, Vivaan Shah, Shiv Pandit and Plabita Borthakur.
The series will in all probability, premiere this year itself. It is a heartwarming story where the adult children return weeks before Diwali to the family home in Bhopal, a city where they grew up. As they all meet after years, adjusting to the situations make them burdened with emotional conflicts. The series will be helmed by Shree Narrayan Singh and bankrolled by Manor Rama Pictures and has everything to offer from family drama, emotional turmoil to sibling camaraderie and light-hearted humour.
Manish Kalra, the chief business officer at ZEE5 India, said that it is their constant endeavour to share fresh and relatable stories and with Sutliyan, they aim to offer a slice of life drama that will make one reunite with the family. While Head of Hindi originals for ZEE5, Nimisha Pandey calls it a story that not only will tug the heartstrings but will also make one cherish the tiny moments spent with the loved ones. Shree Narrayan Singh, who is helming the project says that he was particularly attracted to the series for one reason, that at a time when emotions get expressed via emojis, there’s a show that is real and will make one pick the phone, call up mom and book a ticket back home.
