In one of his multitude of philanthropic acts, Amitabh Bachchan will today open a new Children Cancer Wing at the Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai.
Tweeting about the initiative, Mr. Bachchan said, “Giving and caring for others is as close to divinity as any.”
Mr. Bachchan also mentioned the opening of Trust in the name of his late father Dr. Harivansh Rai Bachchan. The trust will conduct various activities towards the poor and the needy.
Over the years, Mr. Bachchan and his family through various institutions have endlessly supported various social causes including raising funds for those hit by the recent floods in Uttarkhand. They have also been instrumental in providing rehabilitation for the differently-abled people, healthcare and education for the poor including making provisions for farmers to pay their loans.
