There Is No End To The Fight For Screen Space Between Spider-Man & 83’

Spider-Man: No Way Home has gone on to create box office records already and has indeed emerged as a surprise package. The film was expected to do well, but nobody had thought of it being the biggest opener of 2021.

Its hype has had an impact on the next weeks Ranveer Singh’s release 83’. All across the last few weeks, Reliance Entertainment was confident that 83’ would get a better opening than Sooryavanshi and was not expecting Spider-Man as a tough competition.

Reliance has been demanding a 100 percent showcasing across single screens in India for 83′, however, it is now learned that owners aren’t willing to give up Spider-Man in its second week because of its unprecedented demand. Sony Pictures, the distributors of Spider-Man are also making a demand of running at least one show in its second week as they are confident of film drawing big numbers.

Exhibitors, it seems have also decided not to give in to the demands of Reliance this time around as they believe that film should run on merit, and if 83’ has in it to set the cash registers ringing, they will be more than glad to allot all the four shows but not immediately.
