Panorama Studios International, which recently acquired the Hindi remake rights of Drishyam 2, has assured the Bombay High Court that they shall not commence the shoot of the movie till the time copyright case filed against them gets sorted out. Viacom 18 had approached the High Court seeking a restraining order on Panorama from producing the sequel to the movie in Hindi. Viacom has alleged infringement of copyright and other rights concerning the production of the sequel, which is in continuation of the previous story. The High Court, in its order, said that Panorama, themselves or through another person with whom they have a contract or any arrangement, cannot begin the shooting of the sequel to Drishyam. The court also said that if Panorama undertakes any pre-production work related to the movie, it will be at their own risk and that they will not be eligible to claim any equities in the future. Viacom 18, in its suit, has claimed that it had executed a Remake Rights Agreement with Wide Angle Creations and Raj Kumar Theatres, hence having the copyright to produce new films by adapting Drishyam.
