Veteran Actor Ramesh Deo Who Acted In Numerous Hindi And Marathi Films Passes Away At 93

Ramesh Deo, the veteran actor, has passed away at the age of 93 following a cardiac arrest. According to his filmmaker son, Abhinay Deo, Shri Deo breathed his last around 8.30 pm on Wednesday at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. He appeared in more than 250 Hindi films and over 200 Marathi movies in a career that spanned 60 long years. Known for his unparalleled screen presence in movies like Anand and Aap Ki Kasam, Ramesh also did extensive work for the Marathi film industry as well. He was known for his trademark moustache as well as his smile, which either charmed or terrified the audience depending on the role he was playing. He played both positive and negative roles throughout his career, which spanned from Dilip Kumar and Rajesh Khanna to Amitabh Bachchan. He was a television veteran too, having featured in 30 Marathi dramas, and it wasn’t only acting for him. Deo tried his hands at producing feature films, directing them, and also backed over 250 ad films. He also worked with new age stars like Akshay Kumar in Jolly LLB and Sunny Deol in Ghayal Once Again, his last big screen film in 2016. Survived by his wife, Seema Deo, a veteran actor herself, and two sons, Ajinkya Deo, a popular Marathi actor, and Abhinay Deo, a film director known for Delhi Belly, Ramesh Deo will be remembered for his immense contribution to the Indian film and theatre industry.
