Recent news involving the Indian Premier League confirmed that the owners of Manchester United, the Glazers Family are keen to bid for a team for the upcoming 2022 edition of the celebrated cricket tournament. The mega auction, which is lined up next week, will have two teams join the cash-rich league, and the applications have already started pouring in ahead of the bidding process.
Ahead of the bid, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh’s name has also cropped up in the list of prospective owners of the new IPL teams. Deepika already has a sports background- her father Prakash Padukone being one of the greats of Indian badminton, and Ranveer Singh is currently the brand ambassador of the NBA in India. Apart from this, he is also involved with the English Premier League. The names of other bidders that are doing the rounds are Aurobindo Pharma and Torrent Pharma.
The list also includes the likes of steel magnate, Naveen Jindal, and filmmaker Ronnie Screwvala. IPL & Bollywood has had a perfect match in Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta, and with Ranveer-Deepika’s name also among the bidders, it will be interesting to see if the glamour quotient will witness a surge again in this most celebrated cricket league of the world.
