Ekta Kapoor & Karan Johar have received the fourth highest civilian honour in India, the Padma Shri Award for excellence in the field of performing arts at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. Ekta was present at the ceremony along with her father, Jeetendra.
An ecstatic Ekta, on receiving the award, said that it was an honour to have received the country’s fourth-highest civilian award for her humble contribution to the field of cinema. She dedicated the award to her mother and father and said that it is because of them she is what she is today. Ekta thanked her family, friends, as well as the team at Balaji Telefilms and most importantly, the audience, for believing and supporting her.
She added that she hopes to push the envelope and give talents a platform that they truly deserve. There are tons of projects between 2021 and 2022 that Ekta is working on, and this prestigious award is going to push her to set the bar higher. Meanwhile, Karan Johar upon receiving the honour wrote, that it is not very often that he is at a loss of words, but it is such an honour to have received one of the country’s civilian awards. He went on to mention that he knows his father would be proud of him today, and he so wished him to be there to share this moment.
