Emraan Hashmi has come out in support of his Chehre co-actor Rhea Chakraborty. According to him, what happened last year was uncalled for and unfair to Rhea. She was dating late Sushant Singh Rajput when the shocking news of his demise struck the nation and was accused of abetting his suicide and also misappropriating his funds. She also had to spend almost a month in jail due to a drug-related case that popped up during the investigation. Emraan says that the entire episode was blown out of proportion with a media trial being conducted. He added all the media scrutiny almost destroyed an entire family’s life. And it was because of some assumption surrounding what had taken place. Emraan opines that if everyone goes down to understanding the ethics of what actual reporting is, the world will be a much better place. According to him, common sense prevails as there exists a judicial system. Chehre, which also stars Amitabh Bachchan and Krystle D’Souza, is releasing in theatres on August 27. Rumy Jafry, the director of Chehre puts it straight. He doesn’t feel the fate of the film will be affected because of Rhea. Although he believes that had the movie released last year, it would have affected it because of the media trial that was conducted. Jafry further adds that last year Rhea was portrayed as a witch and a gold digger, and this time around, she is being called the most desirable woman. This goes on to show that there is a change in the perception of people, and therefore Rhea’s presence in the movie will not have any effect on its outcome.
