Organized by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the Golden Globes are rated as one of the most prestigious awards in Hollywood. The awards, however, have had their share of controversies as well.
NBC dropped coverage of the event last year after the HFPA was chastised for failing to demonstrate racial diversity among its members. Critics further objected to the fact that a close relationship with movie studios would have played a major role in deciding nominations and winners.
