Radhe Shyam, Prabhas’ much-awaited film, which was going to hit the screens on January 14 but had to be apparently postponed due to the third wave of the pandemic, may opt for an OTT release with a pay-per-view model. There is no official statement that has been released by the makers as of yet on this.
That said, the announcement, which was made while pushing the release date of the film, said, “See you in cinemas soon.” Pay per view is at a very nascent stage in the country as of now, with Salman’s Radhe being the first major Hindi film to opt for that route, which received a phenomenal response with 4.2 million views on the release date alone, but fell prey to piracy, which led to an affect in its numbers.
Radhe Shyam, as a major film, cannot afford such a thing.It is touted to be a romantic drama and also stars Pooja Hegde alongside Prabhas. While the story is kept under wraps, the trailer suggests that it has a period setting with loads of emotions in it. The film has been shot simultaneously in both Hindi and Telugu, and the makers have had separate composers for both versions because Prabhas’ previous film, Saaho’s songs couldn’t connect with the Telugu audience.
