At the recently concluded 11th Pune International Film Festival 2013, Mahesh Manjrekar directed Kaksparsh (meaning Crow’s Touch) won the Best Marathi Feature Film Award. The festival awarded the Best Marathi Film Director Award to Gajendra Ahire for Anumati while Jitendra Joshi won the Best Marathi Film Actor Award for his role in Tukaram. Sumitra Bhave took away the Best Marathi Film Screenplay Award for her work Samhita.
Rajan Kothari won the Best Cinematographer Award for his Tukaram’.
Kaksparsh is produced by Aniruddha Deshpande and Medha Manjrekar. The film won lot of critical praise for its direction, screenplay as well as the brilliant acting by its lead actors including actor Sachin Khedekar who played the role of the head of the family.
The story deals with the turbulent times faced by a Brahmin family led by Sachin Khedekar as Hari Damle. Hari fights the age old rituals of getting his teenage daughter-in-law Uma’s head to be tonsured when her husband Mahadev dies. Years later, Uma falls in love with him but his vow to his dead son to never allow any other man to touch her compels him to maintain a distance from her. But Hari finally relents and agrees to marry her but by then its too late as Uma dies in her tryst to keep Hari’s vow intact.
