Phoga Aur Munni is a story about a family that has comfortably adjusted itself to the thought of only the son to be the torchbearer, whereas the daughter of the house is expected to follow the age-old path that has been carved for her since the time she was born. The story touches that aspect of life which people have become conditioned to, and that’s resting their inabilities on the shoulders of women. Its heart-wrenching dialogues like “Pyaar Karta hei isiliye to Peeta hei” or “Tere pass hei Tere Pati ki permission?” go on to demonstrate the state that a girl and a woman is in, even today. And on top of it, the fact that females have become accustomed to it is even more distressing.

A hard fact that seeds of gender discrimination in our country are sown right from home is something one has to reflect upon while watching this beautiful tale of the struggles of life and the struggles that one goes through within.
