There is a tremendous fan following of Rohit Shetty’s genre of films. Be it the Golmaal comedy or Singham’s action, he can give out blockbusters year after year. No wonder, his next project, Sooryavanshi that stars another consistent performer, Akshay Kumar, is being eagerly awaited by fans and critics alike. Come Diwali, Sooryavanshi will be the first big-budget commercial movie that will release at a gap of 18 months.
It is said that Salman Khan played a key role in ensuring that this Rohit Shetty project did not face any obstacles in releasing at the box office. A source confirms that Salman was eyeing a November 5 release for his film, Antim: The Final Truth, which also happens to be the same day when Sooryavanshi releases. When Rohit got to know about this development, he wasted no time in meeting Salman Khan to request him to back off from the same date as it was important for a film as big as Sooryavanshi to have a solo release.
Salman realized the point Rohit Shetty was making since both the movies releasing on the same day would have led to them eating up each other’s share, which would be particularly not so good for a big-budget movie like Sooryavanshi which has already waited for almost two years for its release. So the actor finally decided to move his film’s release date to November 26. As per a trade source, Rohit Shetty has been brave enough to have waited for this long for a theatrical release, and despite lucrative offers coming his way, he never went ahead with an OTT option.
What the film industry has done here is reciprocated with love by not releasing any movie even a week after Sooryvanshi’s release.
