Salman Khan & Aayush Sharma starrer Antim: The Final truth is eyeing a festival release, and that too in theatres. Mahesh Manjrekar, who is helming the project, is of a firm opinion that Antim is meant for the big screen and sincerely hopes that the theatres in Maharashtra open by next month. If this happens, then the makers are planning to release the movie on Diwali. Salman Khan will be seen donning the role of a no-nonsense honest cop, while Aayush Sharma will play a gangster. Antim is an adaptation of the 2018 Marathi hit, Mulshi Pattern, which was purely a single-screen audience film. Manjrekar says that Antim is also designed for the masses and is an apt theatrical release, and therefore they are not planning an OTT exposure as of now for the film. Although cinemas have opened in many states, Maharashtra looks wary of the move. According to Manjrekar, he feels a bit silly when he sees buses, market places and trains, crowded but theatres shut. He adds that if this goes for long, the day will not be far when single-screen theatres will have to shut down permanently as there are many daily wage earners and theatre staff, the livelihood of whom depends on them. Talking about the movie, Mahesh Manjrekar feels as excited as he was at the time of Vaastav, his directorial which was released in 1999.
