Sagar Sarhadi, best known for his dialogues and screenplays in several top Bollywood movies, passed away yesterday night. He would be forever known for his association with Yash Chopra for movies like Kabhi Kabhie, Silsila, Faasle, and Chandni. Sarhadi also wrote dialogues for Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan’s first theatrical release Deewana and Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai respectively. His directorial venture Bazaar in 1982 starring Farooq Sheikh, Smita Patil, Naseeruddin Shah and Supriya Pathak was well appreciated and nominated in several categories of Filmfare Awards. Despite the success which Bazaar had, Sarhadi was never able to create a path for himself as a filmmaker. Many of his films were planned but never saw the light of the day. He is survived by his nephew Ramesh Talwar, who is also a filmmaker and theatre personality.
