Ace Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has launched his own OTT platform, Spark. The streaming platform has already gone live from May 15. The first movie on the site which can be viewed is Varma’s D Company. It is about how a street gang from Mumbai goes on to become the most dreaded criminal organisation in the world. The movie is produced by Sagar Manchanuru under the banner Spark Productions. Sagar is also Spark OTT’s CEO. In a recent interview RGV had said that 80-90% of the films shall release on OTT in the future. According to him the advantages of OTT are endless. He is of an opinion that in case of an OTT, one does not have to go to the theatre, the theatre comes directly to the person. Besides, people can watch the movie anytime they want and if someone’s getting bored of it in the first 10 minutes, they have an option to opt out of it and switch to some other content. The director further adds that releasing on an OTT platform cuts down the release and publicity cost to a great extent.
